A Goodbye Giveaway (Believe Training Journal)

I said you wouldn’t hear from me here until after the move, but something came up and I think you’ll like it and it’s distracting me from packing hell for at least a few minutes so here I am. Tooodle-oo!

*

I’m not a frivolous spender, and it’s been at least ten years since someone called me an “airhead” or a “flighty space cadet seriously Sarah where’s your brain?” But on Monday when the mailman dropped off a second Believe Training Journal I called myself all those things.

Apparently I pre-ordered journals from both Believe I Am and Picky Bars. I remember the latter because the bars that came with it delivered just in time to become plane snacks for my trip to Ohio. And then I remembered the former when the package showed up on my doorstep.

Woopsie.

 Believe Training Journal

they look different because one is shrink-wrapped. the other one had to be un-shrinkwrapped so Lauren Fleshman could autograph it. yup.

I used Lauren and Ro’s first Believe I Am journal after receiving it through a blog campaign, and loved it. Pen + paper is totally making a comeback! It’s retro-cool again like denim overalls and grungey flannels.

Anyway yeah, I liked it so much I bought the new one. Err, two of them. And even though it is gorgeous and full of great tips and helpful training tools, I don’t think I need both of them. If for no reason other than packing space is very limited and there might literally not be room in the Uhaul for two.

Want one? How bout the autographed one? I’d love to send it to a loving new home.

  1. Kicking it old school with Kenny Rogers “The Gambler!”
Nothing like barreling down the highway belting out “Know when to walk away know when to run..” very poetic and fitting when making a big life change.

  2. Let it go– from Frozen. Seriously, you can sing it while packing and purging, and it all the ways moving presents itself with the unexpected. Safe travels and GOOD LUCK!

  3. My favorite song to sing along to is Journey “Don’t Stop Beleiving.” My husband will try turning the radio off or changing the station but he should know better…I know all the lyrics and can sing it without the radio!

  4. Ahhh thats exciting! An autographed one and all. On road trips my friends and I listen/sing to the cheesiest playlist you have ever heard in your life.

Best roadtrip song: Greased Lightnin’ : Grease (somehow funnier if your ride is slow)
Another example of cheesy: We rocked up to British Unis X-C last year, minibus windows rolled down, playing Hit Me Baby One More Time at top volume and singing. The boys in our team did not live it down.

  5. Stayin Alive by the Bee Gees! It’s old but has a great beat and just makes you happy when you sing it! You probably have time in those 15 hours to hear ALL of the Christmas songs your heart desires too! Have a great trip!

  6. Arlo Guthrie Live from Sydney. Not sure if that’s the true title but it’s on Spotify and it’s the perfect road trip album. It would be like he’s sitting in the backseat telling you stories along the way. Road trip! So excited for you.

  7. I sing along to everything in the car! I listen to lots of show tunes, PPP, country, and alternative music. I think my favorite for long distances is 60’s music though.

  8. Since “Life is a Highway” and “Don’t Stop Believing” are already taken (man, I’m predictable or they’re really awesome– let’s go with that!)– I nominate “All About That Bass”, the full 3 CD set of Queen’s greatest hits and 80s rock Pandora (I started it off with We’re Not Gonna Take it, you can follow your heart for yours.)

  9. I love “listen” or “all by myself” or anything that you really have to belt out. I can’t sing well, so my traveling companions love it sliiiightly less.

  10. Garth, Friends in Low Places. Also, if I’m in a super cheesy happy mood, Martina McBride’s Happy Girl is an awesome one (kind of sickening, I know, but in the right mood). But only if my husband is not in the car on that one!

  11. I definitely sing along to Justin Timberlakes “Future Sex/Love Songs” album on all road trips along with Avril Lavigne’s first album… I’m still 12 inside.

  12. Lately I’ve been hooked on “Love Don’t Die” by the Fray… It’s super catchy and it just puts me in a good mood, whether I’m running, driving, or cleaning the house!

  13. This is slightly embarrassing but my all time favorite song to sing in the car is the 90’s hit All for You by Sister Hazel. Long live the 90s.

  14. Holy crap, you’re moving?! I like to sing all songs out loud in the car, but I’m going with the 17 year old me answer: Wannabe by the Spice Girls. My husband is a music snob and he would kill me for saying this.

I had the first two versions of the BIA journal. Loved it, and it definitely helped me a lot. Good luck with your move!

  15. Rilo Kiley/Jenny Lewis tends to be my “sing in the car” music. And I have to agree with another commenter: “Like a Prayer” is THE BEST.

  16. i am feeling super frazzled in life right now too and I am not even in the midst of moving! From one country loving girl to another I have to go with Blake Shelton’s “Sure’d be cool if you did” but all things T-Swift 1989 is kind of growing on me right now. 17. I’m not great with up to date songs to sing in the car, but I’ll totally sing along with anything from the Smiths when I find it on the (ack!) oldies station.

  18. Lots of Elton John (“Rocket Man”, “Your Song”, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”), Billy Joel (“Piano Man”, “Uptown Girl”, etc) and Johnny Cash’s “I’ve Been Everywhere”.

  19. I love Mountain Sound by Monsters and Men. But I also adore Steal my Girl by One Direction. I may sing very very loudly to One Direction in the car.

  20. “Northwest Passage” by Stan Rogers. A capella with lots of verses and chorus, so good for the car. And it’s about cross-country road tripping. And it’s beautiful. Kind of an unofficial anthem of Canada.

  21. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHH ok. Singing in the car is always a good thing. I’m a folksy fan for car rides and prefer Indigo Girls or something similar. Lately, I’ve been singing their cover of “Midnight Train to Georgia” at the top of my lungs. I’m basically a professional now.

  22. I’m horrible with song titles, but its the ‘I would walk 500 miles’ song. Every time HIMYM would flashback to a Ted and Marshall road trip it would remind me of one of my roadtrips!

  23. Kongos, Come With Me Now is getting heavy play here, but also Trumpets by Jason Derulo…although that is not really kid friendly….oh well :)
Love the new format…good luck with the move!

Written by the lead singer of One Republic (which I love), is a soulful yet catchy and refreshing song. I cannot help but turn it up when it starts to play!

And as someone who works out of their car, I understand the importance of a good car-aoke playlist. Tracy Chapman “Fast Car”, Counting Crows “Mr Jones”, Celine Dion “Its All Coming Back To Me Now” are a few of my current favs.
